Tears and Fears

I fear the morning and the night
I fear the darkness and the light
I fear both strangers and old friends
My fear, you see, it never ends

I fear the music of the past
I fear the calm which may not last
I fear the slipping of my mask
I fear the size of the rebuild task

I fear every single step I take
And every single noise I make
That’s what abuse has done to me
And I fear the frailty of recovery

I fear the tears most of all
I’m scared that if I let them fall
They will not stop
