Self-Medication (My Father’s Footsteps)

No drugs shall keep my spirit down,
and just because I wear a frown
and shout and bawl and cuss so foul,
it does not mean I’ll always scowl.

It’s “better out than in” they say,
and this is what I know, today,
just let the storms blow cold and hot,
you might just find they hit the spot.

And when they have just said their lot,
and calm and love now fill the pot,
you will recover from the fright,
see – little lady got it right.

No drugs shall keep my spirit down,
and even if I sometimes frown
my smile is never far away,
so here’s to life – the drug free way.
