Mash ups

Last week I took a deep breath and attended a new writing group. This is what is called pushing your boundaries!

I know it is going to be a tough group – not least because we were given homework to do! The homework we were given is called “mash up”, which is where you take someone else’s writing and cut and paste words and phrases to make your own work.

I am told that this is an acceptable form of writing, as long as you acknowledge your original source(s). Whatever the rules, I have found this new game fun. Here are my mash ups so far:

Imagine

Source: Ted Hughes, The Thoughtful Fox.

Mash up 1

Sources: Gail Sher, William Blake, Chogyam Trungpa Rimpoche, Julia Cameron, Natalie Goldboy.

Mash up 2

Source: This is from a text about Wuthering Heights, I don’t have the source to hand but will update this note once I find it.
